Exploring Mahasthangarh – A Journey Through Time
One of the oldest archaeological sites in Bangladesh, Mahasthangarh, is more than just bricks and ruins – it’s a portal into our ancient past.
As a travel lover and history enthusiast, this site has always fascinated me. So, I packed my bag and took a journey to Bogura to witness it firsthand.
The Story Behind Mahasthangarh
Dating back to at least the 3rd century BCE, Mahasthangarh was once the capital of ancient Pundranagar. As I walked through the massive fortress walls, I imagined the footsteps of kings, sages, and commoners who lived here thousands of years ago.
The museum nearby showcases incredible artifacts — terracotta plaques, coins, and inscriptions — each piece telling a forgotten tale.
My Travel Experience
Getting there was easy from Bogura town, and the best time to visit is in the cooler months. I recommend spending at least half a day to truly soak in the vibe of this historical wonder.
There’s a certain peace in walking through history — in realizing how deeply rooted our culture is.
